Northeast Tennessee Beef Expo is Thursday, October 10

The annual Northeast Tennessee Beef Expo is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, at the University of Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center at Greeneville. A full day of programming is scheduled to educate beef producers on the latest practices. Also, a special introduction of the recently-hired center director is planned.

Attendees will be able to learn the latest research-driven methods for herd production, maintaining animal health, identifying weeds, and more. Nutrition impacts on production, a session on whether to keep or sell cows and replacement heifers and a market operator panel are also on the day’s agenda.

Two special guests will also be in attendance at the Expo. Justin McKinney has been named Director of the AgResearch and Education Center at Greeneville and will start his new role on October 23. He will be introduced at the Expo and will be available to meet producers throughout the day. Corbitt Wall will be the keynote speaker of the day, addressing attendees during lunch. Wall is a fourth generation cattle producer and has been a livestock auctioneer for 25 years. Over the past decade, Wall has transformed the USDA National Feeder and Stocker Cattle Summary into a price barometer for the beef industry.

Producers who are interested in becoming Beef Quality Assurance certified will be able to do so at the Expo. The cost for BQA certification is $20 for Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association members and $40 for non-members. This fee must be paid on-site and is not included in the cost of registration.

On-site registration is $20 per person. Pre-registration, which included a lunch ticket, is now closed. On-site registrants may choose to have lunch on a first-come, first-served basis as long as servings are available. Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the first session beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The event will be held at the UT AgResearch and Education Center at Greeneville, located at 2255 East Allen’s Bridge Road, Greeneville, Tennessee 37743. Directions to the center and more information are available through the event flyer, located online at the Greeneville Center’s website: greeneville.tennessee.edu.
