The Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association (TCA) and Tennessee Cattlewomen’s Association (TCWA) will award four scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. These are $600 scholarships and will be awarded to outstanding students who are pursuing careers in the beef industry. Fields of study may include education, communications, production, research, or any other area involved with the beef industry. The purpose of this program is to identify and encourage talented and thoughtful students who will emerge as industry leaders.
The application process will be evaluated 50% on an essay describing an issue confronting the beef industry in Tennessee, and 50% based on involvement in 4-H, FFA, and other agriculture organizations. The application also includes a letter of reference. The applicant must be a Tennessee Cattlemen’s Youth Association member, the child/grandchild of a TCA, or a member of TCWA.
“TCA is committed to the future of the cattle industry in Tennessee,” said Melinda Perkins, TCA Director of Youth Programs & Outreach. “We are proud to be able to support our young cattlemen and women with these educational scholarships.”
The 2021 scholarship application must be received by June 15, 2021. More information, including application requirements and the application, can be found in the April, May, and June issues of the Tennessee Cattle Business magazine and on the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association website.
We encourage you to join the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association for $30/year, the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Youth Association for $10/year, or the Tennessee CattleWomen’s Association for $20/year. Memberships can be created and/or renewed online at, www.tncattle.org/shop.
TCA was founded in 1985 and has more than 7,000 members from across the state and the southeast. The organization works to provide the cattlemen of Tennessee with an organization through which they may function collectively to protect their interests and work toward the solution of cattle industry problems and to build the necessary goodwill that will bring both governmental esteem and recognition to the industry.
